Shoe Trends S/S 2017 – The New Gabor Collection

The new Gabor collection for S/S 2017 is characterised by lightness and sportiness. The attributes “soft” and “light” are a recurring theme running through the entire collection. In both sporty types and more elegant shoes, the focus is on strong soles that still remain light as a feather thanks to innovative lightweight foam materials.

Types of Shoes

Gabor has expanded its range of sneakers once again and offers them both in typical sports shoe looks equipped with lots of functions and as fashion sneakers that emit a touch of glamour with special materials, shine, diamante or flower prints.

Hidden wedge sneakers have a wedge heel under the surface. In sneakers, perforations are not just a decorative element, but keep the feet pleasantly cool, especially on hot days. Lace-ups and dandies are given a new look with thick soles, edges or ethnic decorations like plaited cords.

Even ballerinas, loafers and moccasins have been reinterpreted, with strong soles made from lightweight EVA materials and some with shining edges.

In open-toed varieties, sandals with strong soles, wedges or platforms set the tone. Wedges are often covered with raffia, while some platforms are printed with striking patterns.

Gabor has also expanded and enhanced its range of footbed sandals. The new lace-up sandalettes decorate the legs with laces or satin ribbons.

Gabor has always held a strong position as a provider of pumps, often equipping them with especially soft soles and socks. Slim and pointed last shapes are the trend here. Platform pumps are also a big theme.

White becomes an important colour for upper materials, too, while nude and skin tones, light grey, vintage rosé and pastel tones also define the palette. Blue is also seen in many different nuances, especially denim blue, as well as silver, gold, rosé gold and, particularly in shoes in the trendy Seventies look, brown. Gabor likes to make colour statements in intensive tones, especially for white or black shoes.

Rough and smooth leather are both big. Leathers with metallic shimmer or crash looks are especially interesting. Prints and perforations provide especially attractive effects.

Flower prints, refined mesh materials, sequins, diamante and ethnic elements like plaited cords are all key decorative elements.

Strong, thick grip soles made from extremely lightweight materials are on trend. Shell soles are also very thick this season, but new materials keep them extremely light. The soles are often white, or sometimes pastel tones for sandals.

Some are also decorated with jute, raffia, cork or striking prints. The heels still tend to be low, but some pumps are higher.

Gabor offers fashionable shoes that are especially comfortable to wear. As well as selected, smooth upper materials and a soft, padded inner, functional exchangeable insoles and shock-absorbing outsoles make even the elegant city range incredibly comfortable to wear. Gabor even offers exchangeable soles for many of its high heels.

Special techniques such as sacchettos and moccasins ensure special wearing comfort and a great deal of flexibility. Models with air chamber soles based on the hovercraft principle improve feeling and comfort for the wearer.

Gabor aims to provide a perfectly-fitting shoe for every woman and every foot. That is why Gabor shoes are available in different widths (F/G/H) and in large sizes up to 11 (46).

The “Best Fitting” concept is very special, having extended step area while maintaining the normal ball width (F) to provide more space and greater comfort for the front foot.
