Half-year figures 2011

Gabor full steam ahead

After the record year of 2010, Gabor Shoes AG’s business also saw strong growth in the first half of 2011. In the first six months of this year Group sales rose by 16.8% to € 179.4 million.

Sales of the core brand Gabor even increased by 17.8% to € 148.6 million, camel active grew to € 26.7 million, and the snipe brand that joined the Group in 2009 contributed € 4.1 million. There was also an encouraging gain from licensed products such as handbags, children’s shoes and shoe accessories.

In numbers of pairs that means sales of 4.8 million (Gabor, camel active, snipe, Gabor kids and Gabor home) in the first six months, 3.9 million of them with the Gabor brand. The number of employees went up to 2,806.

Although figures were also up again abroad, a large part of the growth is attributable to the booming domestic business. The proportion of the turnover generated by Gabor in Germany increased again and is now 54%.

Gabor is very optimistic about the further development of the business year. According to the company, initial sales for the Autumn/Winter season 2011 were more than satisfactory, leading it to assume a continued high growth rate for the business year.

Gabor also intends to support sales in the Autumn/Winter season 2011 with a massive advertising campaign. Besides large-scale poster advertising and print advertising in high-circulation women’s and premium magazines, there will again be a TV spot running from September 2011 on SAT1, RTL, VOX and N24.
