Quality worldwide: the Gabor production sites.
26,000 pairs of Gabor shoes are produced day in, day out for a market that now stretches far beyond Germany's borders across the whole of Europe and even further into Russia, China, Japan and the United Arab Emirates. 6 million pairs of shoes a year (plus 1.5 million pairs of camel active) - a volume that makes us one of the largest manufacturers of fashionable women's shoes in Germany. So where are our Gabor shoes actually produced?
Our European production sites
Gabor shoes are finished in our own factories in Germany, Austria, Portugal and Slovakia. Production is controlled from Rosenheim, for this is where Gabor Shoes AG has its headquarters. Development of the prototypes also takes place here. 4,500 pairs of the shoes produced on a daily basis are manufactured at our plant in Spittal, Austria, 11,500 pairs in Silveiros, Portugal as well as 10,000 pairs of shoes and 5,000 shoe uppers in our newest production facilitie located at Banovce in Slovakia.
Qualified staff maintain quality control
2,800 members of staff employed at these five European sites ensure the consistent quality of our shoes. And they all speak the same language when it comes to technical know-how and the quality of the product. Why? Because we take the trouble to guarantee the same quality standards in each individual factory by providing our staff with ongoing training.
We believe in high production standards
Because manufacture takes place almost exclusively in Gabor factories, we can guarantee that each individual shoe is finished with high-quality workmanship, clean seams and perfect mounting. Constant material and quality controls ensure that these strict standards are adhered to. Furthermore, our manufacturing process is conducted in accordance with strict moral and ethical guidelines: favourable working conditions, fair salaries, obviously no child labour, responsibility towards the environment - basic principles that we adhere to ourselves and demand from our partners.
Fairness and moral issues: Code of Conduct
For technical production reasons, a tiny percentage of our shoes are manufactured by our trading partner companies rather than in our Gabor factories. However, we control quality there too - through our own personnel. Because we also commit all our partners and suppliers to signing our "code of conduct", we safeguard production conditions that correspond to the "General Declaration of Human Rights" and the regulations determined by open and fair international trade.
Transparency engenders trust
As the manufacturer of a high-quality brand product we rely heavily on the trust of the consumer - trust that we can only win through absolute transparency. We check all production processes and raw materials stringently and at regular intervals to ensure that they are neither ecologically damaging nor detrimental to our health. We demand the same transparency from our associates. We cooperate exclusively with partners whose unqualified trustworthiness can be vouched for following long-term collaboration. Transparency engenders trust: not an empty promise at Gabor
